Purpose of the Job
Value Logistics is seeking a skilled Boilermaker responsible for fabricating and assembling metal components used in truck bodies. The role focuses on delivering precise, high-quality workmanship while following strict safety standards and working collaboratively with the workshop team to complete projects within required timelines. The Boilermaker will also handle repairs, equipment maintenance, and accurate documentation of all work performed.

Key Responsibilities

Metal Fabrication and Welding

• Cut, shape, and assemble metal components with high accuracy
• Operate fabrication tools such as plasma cutters, grinders, and shears effectively
• Apply appropriate welding techniques to ensure strong and precise results
• Stay updated with modern welding and fabrication technologies
• Select suitable materials according to project specifications
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand job requirements
• Measure and mark metal components carefully to ensure proper alignment and fit
• Repair damaged truck body components and carry out routine maintenance tasks

Quality Control and Safety Compliance

• Inspect completed work thoroughly to confirm it meets quality standards
• Follow all safety procedures and workshop guidelines
• Maintain and clean welding and fabrication equipment regularly
• Identify and resolve issues that may arise during the fabrication process

Collaboration and Communication

• Communicate clearly with team members to coordinate daily tasks
• Work closely with supervisors and managers to maintain high-quality workmanship
• Complete assigned work within project deadlines
• Keep accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time spent on projects

Panelshop Operations

• Review job cards or quotations to determine the required work
• Inspect vehicles against job cards and identify parts that must be ordered
• Check for additional damage that may need repair
• Order necessary parts and follow up on outstanding orders
• Verify that ordered parts are correct and undamaged
• Ensure all parts requiring paint are sent to the paint shop with the vehicle
• Strip and reassemble vehicles as required
• Ensure proper panel alignment and correct fitment of all components
• Conduct a final inspection to ensure work meets high quality standards
• Perform a physical check to confirm the vehicle is roadworthy

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Red Seal Trade Certificate
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant workshop experience

Skills Requirements

• Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accurate measurements, proper alignment, and high-quality results
• Strong safety awareness and strict adherence to safety procedures
• Skilled in cutting, shaping, and welding metal components
• Proficient in the use of fabrication tools such as plasma cutters, grinders, and shears
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and technical specifications
