Dischem Vacancies is seeking experienced and driven candidates for the position of Assistant Store Manager Pool across Gauteng stores. The successful candidate will support the Store Manager in overseeing full store operations, leading teams, achieving sales targets, and ensuring optimal stock and service standards.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum 5 years’ Retail/FMCG experience across all retail departments, including Receiving, Administration, Cash Office, and Sales Floor Management
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with Unisolv, SAP, or QlikView
  • Previous experience using Kronos

Advantageous:

  • Relevant Retail/FMCG qualification

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Store Manager in the day-to-day management of store operations
  • Manage employee administration, including leave, working hours, and scheduling
  • Oversee performance management processes and ensure development plans are implemented
  • Ensure daily ordering is completed accurately and maintain optimal stock levels
  • Manage stock flow from receiving to the sales floor
  • Coordinate and manage biannual stock takes in collaboration with the Store Admin Manager
  • Monitor and control shrinkage levels
  • Address customer compliments and complaints promptly and professionally
  • Ensure all merchandisers comply with Dis-Chem merchandising standards
  • Plan, implement, and maintain promotional stock and displays
  • Ensure compliance with labelling, pricing, and layout standards
  • Prepare and analyse reports by collecting and summarising relevant operational information
  • Drive store objectives and ensure sales and operational targets are achieved

Competencies

  • Comprehensive retail administration and management experience across receiving, administration, capturing, till operations, cash office, stock control, sales floor, and customer service
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Basic financial knowledge including GP, mark-up, and VAT
  • Effective communication and interaction with suppliers, management, representatives, and staff
  • Strong analytical and time management skills
  • Ability to lead, develop, and motivate team members
  • Trustworthy and honest with high integrity
