Role Overview
The Assistant Clothing Manager supports the Store Manager in delivering operational excellence, driving sales performance, and ensuring outstanding customer service in the Clothing department. This role provides hands-on management experience across daily operations, people management, stock control, and promotional execution, while ensuring adherence to company standards and policies.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role, or proven reliever experience.
- Computer literacy, including MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and virtual meeting platforms.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and after-hours stock takes.
- Willingness to rotate between stores when required.
- Ability to perform hands-on, physical tasks.
- Completion of required assessments.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Visual Merchandising
- Ensure a customer-centric approach, delivering excellent service at all times.
- Respond to customer inquiries and provide product guidance.
- Maintain visual merchandising standards and execute all plans and promotions effectively.
People Management Support
- Assist the Store Manager with ongoing staff management and development.
- Address employee performance issues when required.
- Support recruitment processes in line with company policies.
- Identify training and development needs and assist in implementing initiatives.
- Contribute to performance management, talent development, and succession planning.
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team to achieve departmental objectives.
Daily Operations & Stock Management
- Open and close the store in line with security procedures.
- Complete start-of-day and end-of-day reporting and operational procedures.
- Perform administrative tasks, including staff scheduling, leave management, invoicing, pricing, cost control, banking, expense reconciliation, and adherence to head office instructions.
- Ensure merchandise is received, processed, merchandised, and displayed according to company standards.
- Monitor product quality, control soilage, and take corrective action as needed.
- Manage shrinkage and maintain compliance with OHS standards.
Sales & Promotions
- Drive sales to achieve budgets and monitor turnover and promotional participation.
- Implement promotions, markdowns, and return-to-credit processes effectively.
- Analyse sales performance and contribute to strategies to improve results.
