Artisan Turbine Fitter Gr 2 – Sasol Careers

Purpose of the Role
The Artisan Turbine Fitter Gr 2 supports production by ensuring effective maintenance, reliability, and sustainability of plant equipment. The role involves executing mechanical maintenance tasks, following procedures and codes, and utilising available resources to maintain operational stability and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proven competence in pre-identified areas of plant/mine equipment and systems
  • Understand and utilise plant maintenance documentation and planning systems
  • Apply relevant plant/mine-specific and basic process knowledge within the discipline
  • Comply with Safety Management Systems such as IMS and MBO, and apply emergency procedures where required
  • Read, interpret, and implement task risk assessments, identifying hazards proactively
  • Participate in daily morning meetings to discuss work assignments and provide feedback to supervisors
  • Support business goals by completing tasks within set deadlines
  • Participate in root cause analyses (RCAs) and provide feedback to RCA teams
  • Conduct risk assessments in line with legislation and company requirements to enhance safety
  • Maintain good housekeeping and adhere to waste disposal procedures
  • Share knowledge and mentor junior artisans informally
  • Participate in quarterly performance appraisals and identify personal development needs, integrating these into a PDP with group leader approval
  • Lead by example, assisting with the development of work instructions to enhance staff competency
  • Take ownership of team tasks and act as group leader where appropriate
  • Contribute to the overall maintenance strategy and plant operational direction
  • Conduct My IMS inspections to ensure plant sustainability and safety compliance
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment and actively participate in PDAs and RCAs
  • Ensure accurate history feedback is captured to support equipment renewals, upgrades, and critical spare replacement
  • Provide input during toolbox talks to promote plant safety and awareness

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or N3 with Mathematics, Physical Science, and English
  • Occupational Trade Certificate (Mechanical Red Seal)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in mechanical maintenance of plant equipment

Licensing Requirement

  • Valid Driver’s License
