Job Description
Overview
The Alarm Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, programming, and servicing of domestic alarm systems. This role includes on-site fault finding, performing upgrades, and ensuring all systems operate to company standards. The Alarm Technician also supports client service by providing professional and efficient technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Installation and Maintenance
- Install and maintain domestic alarm systems to company standards.
- Program and test alarm panels, including new installations and system takeovers.
- Perform basic fault finding and repairs on alarm systems.
- Install radio communication devices and related equipment.
- Conduct links up for new clients and perform system upgrades when required.
Client Service and Reporting
- Complete handovers, quotations, job cards, and invoices after every service call.
- Provide accurate quotes for system upgrades.
- Address client complaints or issues professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain a respectful and professional approach with all clients.
Vehicle and Equipment Management
- Ensure assigned vehicle is roadworthy, clean, and thoroughly inspected before leaving the office or hub.
- Conduct vehicle, electrical, and ladder inspections and provide feedback to management.
- Maintain and manage stock control for all equipment and supplies.
Other Duties
- Work standby as per the duty roster.
- Complete daily drive sheets, technical reports, and service documentation.
- Maintain neatness and always be in full uniform while on duty.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric certificate.
- PSIRA Grade C registration.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as an alarm technician.
- Proven experience in programming, wiring, installation, and fault finding of alarm systems.
- Knowledge of DSC, FBI, CADDX, IDS, Paradox, and Texecom systems.
- Basic knowledge of CCTV, intercom systems, and access control is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Listener software is advantageous.
