ACCOUNTING ANALYST (C3)

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Accounting Analyst (C3) will ensure the accurate and timely recording and analysis of accounting transactions and inventory entries for PEP Africa subsidiaries, supporting the organisation’s strategic objectives through strong financial control and reporting discipline.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Country Accounting

• Ensure month-end close deadlines are met and proactively communicate any risks or delays
• Support country teams to achieve reporting timelines and quality standards
• Review all deliverables for accuracy and relevance prior to Management Accountant review
• Identify, investigate, and recommend improvements to accounting processes, including automation opportunities
• Drive an efficient and well-controlled year-end close process
• Perform and validate commercial reconciliations

Accurate and Timely Recording of Stock & GP

• Review distribution centre stock take reports and analyse variances
• Ensure accurate accounting for price adjustments and stock losses
• Review and reconcile inventory export and import entries
• Validate accurate airtime gross profit accounting

Auditing

• Support internal and external audit processes and respond to audit queries
• Communicate relevant financial and control information to stakeholders in a timely manner

Team Management

• Drive adherence to the annual performance management process, including formal development plans
• Maintain regular communication with team members through monthly check-ins and information sharing
• Foster a positive team culture aligned to organisational values and culture survey targets
• Set clear, measurable objectives and drive accountability for delivery and contribution
• Motivate and build team morale by recognising and celebrating team successes

Ad Hoc Projects

• Support ad hoc operational issues, including point-of-sale error investigations
• Contribute to project work, including system testing and implementation support

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant tertiary qualification such as a National Diploma with Accounting as a major
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a finance environment
• Retail industry experience will be advantageous
• Strong knowledge of financial controls, governance, and compliance
• Good understanding of the business, industry, economic environment, and key stakeholders
• Knowledge of foreign currency accounting and consolidation will be advantageous
• Strong teamwork, communication, and reporting skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines
• Advanced computer literacy, including MS Office, Google Workspace, and financial systems
• Willingness to travel to African countries on an occasional basis
• South African citizenship
