Main Purpose of the Role
The Branch Manager is responsible for leading branch operations, managing staff and client relationships, and ensuring all deliverables align with organizational objectives. This role drives financial performance, profitability, service excellence, client retention, and operational efficiency while maintaining a strong client-centric approach.
Job-Related Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years’ management experience within the logistics or courier environment.
- Strong sales, operations, human resources, and industrial relations knowledge.
- Advanced MS Excel skills, including pivot tables, charts, and formulas.
- Solid understanding of profit and loss management and financial controls.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Labour Relations Act and Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
- Ability to engage effectively with clients and colleagues at all organizational levels.
- Excellent time management, punctuality, and daily planning skills.
- Strong administrative capabilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments and evolving technologies.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work extended hours and travel when required.
- Own reliable transport and a valid, unendorsed Code 08 driver’s license.
- Strong budgeting, cost forecasting, and cost trend analysis skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the delivery of organizational objectives through effective communication, measurement, and staff motivation.
- Coordinate with shared services and internal stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration.
- Manage and deliver the service catalogue to clients in line with service level agreements.
- Control branch costs and productivity to ensure operational efficiency and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, external regulations, and global and local KPIs.
- Achieve branch budget commitments and contribute to overall business unit financial targets.
- Identify business risks and opportunities that may impact service delivery or financial performance.
- Manage employee performance, development, and succession to support sustainable operations.
- Ensure strict adherence to deadlines, schedules, and service commitments.
- Manage resources, risk, and operational controls effectively.
- Perform administrative duties relevant to branch operations and management.
- Engage with customers at all levels through direct interaction and telephonic communication.
- Maintain, enforce, and continuously improve operational systems, processes, and controls.
- Manage customer dissatisfaction processes by analyzing service failures, complaints, and damages to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Actively manage daily operational performance to consistently achieve performance targets.
- Ensure all owned, leased, hired, or contractor vehicles are roadworthy and fully compliant with legal requirements.
- Drive company initiatives and strategic programs within the branch or agency.
- Oversee branch fleet management, including maintenance, condition monitoring, and fuel consumption control.
- Implement, monitor, and sustain Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental management systems.
- Ensure all operational processes align with approved quality management systems and legal and commercial requirements.
- Provide operational oversight during peak periods and when visiting branch locations.
- Ensure branches and agents utilize approved financial tools for performance management.
- Review and validate monthly and annual branch forecasts for accuracy and justification.
- Actively manage branch P&L costs, validating variances and implementing corrective actions.
- Prepare accurate and compliant budgets for the financial year based on operational insights and budgeting guidelines.
