Sales Manager, Insurance Africa Region – DSV Vacancies

Purpose of the Role

The Sales Manager, Insurance Africa Region is responsible for driving insurance business development and value creation across the assigned region. The role focuses on delivering sustainable revenue growth through strategic initiatives, partner engagement, frontline sales enablement, and direct transactional support in collaboration with local DSV offices.

Success Criteria and Key Performance Indicators

  • Achieve regional insurance revenue growth targets year-on-year.
  • Improve frontline insurance sales conversion rates through effective enablement and training.
  • Increase market penetration and adoption of insurance products across targeted customer segments.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development and Strategy

  • Identify and develop new insurance business opportunities across the region.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to align insurance sales strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform strategic planning and decision-making.

Partner and Customer Value Creation

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic partners to drive mutual growth.
  • Develop tailored value propositions aligned to customer needs and regional market dynamics.
  • Support the rollout of innovative insurance solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and retention.

Sales Enablement and Training

  • Design and deliver training programs to strengthen frontline product knowledge and sales capability.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on cargo insurance products, processes, and compliance.
  • Monitor performance and provide coaching to ensure consistent execution of insurance sales strategies.

Performance Management and Governance

  • Track regional KPIs and provide structured reporting to senior management.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements.

Captive Management

  • Support daily operations of the DSV-owned cell captive.
  • Review customer insurance contracts and conduct compliance assessments as required.

Qualifications

  • Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
  • Degree in Commerce, Marketing, Finance, or a related field will be advantageous.
  • FAIS Regulatory Examination Level 1 and Level 5 certifications.
  • Class of Business 3 and 7 accreditation.
  • Registered with the FSP as a Key Individual.

Job-Related Requirements

  • Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience within the insurance industry.
  • Previous managerial experience fulfilling the responsibilities of a compliant Key Individual will be advantageous.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in business systems.
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, or related commercial roles.
  • Solid understanding of insurance products and market dynamics, or strong ability and willingness to develop this expertise.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence, coach, and train teams across multiple locations.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Collaborative leadership style suited to a matrix organizational environment.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on long-term value creation.
  • Comfortable operating with limited direct customer interaction while enabling frontline sales success.
