Back Door Specialist – Purpose of the Role

The Back Door Specialist is responsible for visiting assigned stores and distribution centres to ensure efficient back-door operations and minimise operational disruptions. This role focuses on building, managing, and maintaining strong relationships with stores, distribution centres, and operational teams, while proactively resolving issues between back-door functions and Value operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain effective working relationships with back-door teams at stores and distribution centres
• Conduct at least one monthly visit to each allocated back door
• Gain a thorough understanding of back-door processes, including receiving, dispatch, and returns, to ensure compliance and smooth stock flow
• Maintain and update back-door and distribution centre requirements on a monthly basis
• Provide operational support by addressing back-door issues and coordinating resolutions with relevant Value operations
• Drive corrective actions to completion within agreed timelines
• Monitor, improve, and enhance turnaround times at back-door operations
• Manage and support the smooth processing of bookings, escalating potential risks that may delay vehicle offloading
• Promote the use of technology and system integrations to improve procedures and operational efficiency
• Implement and manage processes aimed at reducing returns

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Qualification in Logistics, Warehousing, or a related field is advantageous
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in retail and distribution centre back-door operations, audits, and resolving delayed offloading challenges
• Own reliable transport
