Job Overview
The CCTV and Alarm Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, and fault finding of alarm, CCTV, intercom, and access control systems. Reporting to the Technical Manager, this role ensures that all technical work meets company standards and customer requirements while supporting internal and external clients effectively.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Matric or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an alarm technician
- Extensive experience in programming, wiring, installations, and fault finding
- Valid driver’s license
- PSIRA registered (Grade C)
- Sound knowledge of DSC, FBI, CADDX, IDS, Paradox, and Telecom systems
- Knowledge of CCTV, intercom, and access control systems advantageous
- Ability to work standby as required
Key Responsibilities – Technical
- Perform alarm installations according to quotations
- Program alarm panels and systems per specifications
- Provide on-site quotes for additional equipment when necessary
- Plan cable runs in coordination with wiremen
- Obtain customer codes before attending calls and during standby
- Complete handovers, job cards, and invoices for every installation
- Provide timely feedback to Manager, Supervisor, and Call Centre upon completion
- Ensure installations match sales quotations and are programmed to company standards
- Adhere to SHE requirements at all times
- Verify customer details before attending calls
Key Responsibilities – General
- Download cites each morning
- Maintain accurate stock levels and assist with stocktakes
- Keep company vehicle clean and submit petrol slips weekly
- Report any stock discrepancies promptly
Performance Standards
- Installations and programming meet prescribed technical standards
- Accurate completion of handovers, job cards, and invoices
- Timely and clear feedback provided to relevant parties
- Stock maintained and discrepancies addressed immediately
- Company vehicle kept clean and petrol slips submitted on time
