Job Description
The Senior Training Specialist at FlySafair Careers is responsible for overseeing the operational delivery of training across Cabin, Ground, and Technical divisions. This role ensures training activities are effectively planned, standardised, and executed in line with regulatory requirements, while driving continuous improvement and supporting team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day training operations across all training portfolios, ensuring sessions are scheduled, resourced, and delivered in line with the approved training plan
- Monitor training schedules to ensure adherence to timelines, efficient resource allocation, and optimal utilisation
- Act as the operational escalation point for direct reports, resolving delivery challenges and ensuring continuity of training operations
- Drive standardisation of training processes, documentation, and practices across divisions to maintain consistency and quality
- Align training teams, planners, instructors, and administrative support to ensure consistent delivery and compliance with regulatory schedules
- Promote effective cross-functional communication to enhance collaboration and execution of training activities
- Identify operational gaps, recommend improvements, and implement solutions to improve training effectiveness and efficiency
- Capture team input on operational challenges and collaborate with stakeholders to drive process improvements
- Document lessons learned, track recurring issues, and implement enhancements to strengthen training delivery
- Compile weekly performance summaries and dashboards, reporting on training delivery, utilisation, completion rates, and instructor performance
- Provide accurate and timely reporting on training progress, risks, and key performance indicators, recommending corrective actions where required
- Monitor instructor utilisation and proactively address under- or over-utilisation of training resources
- Support audit readiness by validating documentation and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements
- Promote a collaborative, team-oriented working environment
- Assess, guide, and optimise the performance of direct reports
- Provide specialised guidance and development support to team members
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (essential)
- Relevant diploma or degree in Education, Aviation Management, or Training, or a minimum of three years’ aviation experience (essential)
- At least five years’ relevant experience within a mid-sized organisation, including a minimum of one year in a supervisory role (essential)
- Operational knowledge of aviation training structures and delivery models
- Working knowledge of SACAA training regulations and the ATO framework
- Understanding of rostering and scheduling systems
Advantageous Qualifications and Experience
- Prior involvement in SACAA audits or internal compliance reviews
- Experience using AIMS or similar scheduling systems
