Job Description

Pepkor is seeking a Junior Financial Analyst to support the Cellular (Airtime) team in analysing financial data, preparing reports, and assisting with daily operational and strategic finance tasks. This role is ideal for individuals starting their career in finance, providing exposure to financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and commercial decision-making.

Responsibilities

Financial Analysis & Reporting

• Assist in preparing financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Conduct variance analysis comparing actual results to forecasts and budgets.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management.
• Support the determination and tracking of key financial KPIs.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Support budgeting processes by gathering data, inputting figures, and analyzing trends.
• Assist in creating and updating financial forecasts based on current data and market trends.
• Communicate forecast insights effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Stock & Data Management

• Monitor SKU availability, stock levels, and monthly stock reconciliations.
• Manage stock ageing and ensure data accuracy in financial systems and spreadsheets.
• Gather and maintain financial and operational data from various departments.

Research & Analysis

• Conduct research on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor performance.
• Support financial analysis for specific projects or business initiatives.

Support Functions

• Provide assistance to senior financial analysts and finance managers/accountants.
• Participate in special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis requests.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree.
• Eligible to register as a CA(SA) or newly qualified CA(SA) is advantageous.
• Minimum of 3 years’ article experience (signed-off).
• Proficiency in financial modeling and advanced Excel skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Advanced Excel; PowerBI is preferred.
• Understanding of pricing structures, interest rate indexing, and time value of money.
• Ability to present data and findings clearly and concisely.
