Anova Vacancies – Grants and Compliance Officer
Anova Vacancies are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional to support the Head of Grants and Compliance in managing project budgets, financial reporting, and donor compliance. This role ensures effective administration of grants while maintaining adherence to donor and statutory requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of annual project budgets and uploading budgets into the accounting system
- Monitor project cash flow and advise the Head of Grants and Compliance on any shortfalls
- Prepare and submit monthly donor reports within required deadlines
- Review and update financial reports to ensure compliance with donor and statutory requirements
- Authorise and release daily payment batches on the banking system
- Monitor grants administration to ensure compliance with budgets, policies, and procedures
- Collaborate with the compliance department to address critical review areas and implement corrective measures
- Ensure sub-recipient contracts meet donor and organisational requirements
- Support project managers with proposals, manual budgets, and work plan development
- Review monthly project expenses against budgets and implement strategies to optimise spend and deliverables
- Assist project staff in preparing periodic reports for funders
- Review personnel files for regulatory compliance
- Support finance with balance sheet account reconciliations
- Assist with supplier onboarding and review processes
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the manager
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- BCom or BCompt Degree in Financial Management or a relevant tertiary qualification
- 2–4 years’ experience, preferably in Grants and Contracts
- Knowledge of donor grants and the Non-Profit sector
- Strong understanding of financial accounting policies and procedures
- Ability to operate in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Project management experience and ERP systems knowledge
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team
