Packaging Team Leader – SAB Vacancies
Job Purpose
The Packaging Team Leader is responsible for leading shift-based teams to execute the production plan, achieving required performance standards in quality, cost, delivery, safety, and morale (QCDSM). This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality packaging operations while fostering team development and continuous improvement.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Safety and Workplace Standards
- Maintain a safe and healthy working environment
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental procedures and legislation
- Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards
Production Performance & Process Optimization
- Manage shift operations in line with VPO tools and principles
- Achieve production plan targets within budget
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance and autonomous operations
- Monitor production processes to ensure performance efficiency
- Interpret and implement production plans for the shift
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Administration
- Apply and enforce administrative systems and procedures
- Administer employment conditions for team members
- Prepare and control budgets
- Contribute to personal and team development initiatives
Problem Solving & Decision Making
- Apply problem-solving and decision-making principles
- Facilitate team problem-solving sessions and continuous improvement initiatives
Human Resource Management
- Develop and coach employees
- Promote a healthy industrial relations climate
- Apply and manage people policies and practices
Team Performance Optimization
- Facilitate effective team dynamics
- Implement performance management and OPR processes
- Ensure effective communication across the team
Minimum Requirements
- Post-matric tertiary qualification: National Diploma or equivalent in Engineering, N6 Engineering Studies plus Trade; Degree in Engineering is an advantage
- SAP experience (where applicable) and knowledge of Voyager Plant Optimisation (VPO)
- Supervisory experience in a packaging process environment
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in FMCG production
- Experience managing high-speed packaging lines is highly advantageous
- Completion of AB InBev Packaging Traineeship
- Minimum 3 months on-the-job training
