Job Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Cashier to join the team at the Greenhills Mall store in Empangeni. This role is responsible for delivering excellent customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a world-class shopping experience, and accurately processing all transactions in line with Dis-Chem policies and standard operating procedures, with zero tolerance for errors or fraud.

Minimum Requirements

Essential

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office
• Sound numerical skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Basic customer service skills
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to Dis-Chem customer service standards, policies, and procedures
• Build and maintain professional relationships with customers
• Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
• Meet required customer turnover and hourly transaction targets
• Stay informed of current sales, promotions, and in-store initiatives
• Ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues
• Apply Dis-Chem 5-star communication principles consistently
• Manage cash flow accurately and responsibly
• Ensure all line voids and price changes are authorised by a supervisor
• Process authorised exchanges and customer returns according to policy
• Accurately process all customer transactions including cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other approved payment methods
• Process loyalty cards and accelerator partner programmes correctly
• Secure cash in the drop safe in line with Dis-Chem SOPs
• Protect personal login credentials and update passwords regularly
• Ensure all outgoing stock, items, and scripts are scanned and paid for
• Safeguard all cash securely within the till at all times
• Handle daily takings confidentially and communicate only with authorised management
• Identify, report, and act on suspicious behaviour in line with security procedures
• Assist customers with queries related to store merchandise
• Comply fully with Dis-Chem security policies and procedures

• Experience processing sales, refunds, and multiple payment methods
