Sales Representative – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Job
The Sales Representative is responsible for promoting and selling Value Logistics services, with a focus on Value Truck Rental, while cross-selling other offerings including Linehaul, Value Equipment, Fridge Fleet, Freightpak, Warehousing, Clearing and Forwarding, Moving Billboards, and Express services. This role aims to grow revenue, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure service delivery aligns with client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Gather information on clients’ transport, distribution, and expenditure patterns
- Assess potential business opportunities and apply strategic focus factors (G, S, B)
- Understand the competitive landscape in your area
- Build strong customer relationships and establish trust
- Identify client service needs and provide accurate quotes for appropriate Value services
- Grow the existing customer base through understanding client operations and cross-selling services
- Close sales deals and target national accounts
- Understand client contracts and ensure service delivery aligns with customer requirements
- Add value to every client interaction and ensure objectives are achieved from each visit
- Maintain high-frequency contact with key business influencers
- Keep product knowledge up to date and resolve client queries, including invoice, claims, and POD issues
- Project a professional image and represent the company positively at all times
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
- Submit all required sales reports accurately and on time
- Meet team expectations, budgets, and goals set by management
- Assist with additional tasks or duties assigned by management within the scope of your capabilities
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Experience in a sales environment
- Proficiency in English and Afrikaans
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to apply appropriate sales techniques based on the situation
- Strong customer needs analysis and relationship management skills
- Effective time management and organisational skills
- Understanding of risk management principles and ability to make independent decisions
- Ability to cross-sell and maximise revenue opportunities
