The PACKAGING INVENTORY CLERK is responsible for managing all Raw Material inventory within the logistics supply chain, ensuring compliance with quality standards, governance processes, and inventory controls. The role ensures all physical inventory movements are accurately recorded in SAP, variances are investigated and resolved, and inventory integrity is maintained at all times.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure Raw Material inventory quality standards are applied in line with VPO requirements
- Accurately block Raw Material inventory in SAP with physical blocking mechanisms for quality-related and obsolete stock
- Enforce freshness and stock rotation policies according to VPO standards
- Record inventory counts accurately per storage location, including Best Before Dates by SKU, with compliant bin card displays
- Apply and approve inventory concessions in line with VPO product age standards
- Re-pack all salvage stock and decant obsolete stock according to standard procedures
- Process all received stock through GRN in accordance with policy and procedures
- Conduct independent inventory counts, reconcile to SAP, investigate variances, and escalate unresolved discrepancies with action plans
- Ensure all physical inventory movements are accurately transacted in SAP, including receipts, write-offs, and gate documentation
- Process breakages, obsolescence, and salvage stock accurately in SAP with proper authorization
- Review and resolve daily controls and open shipments
- Process claims timeously with approved documentation and ensure reimbursements are completed
- Monitor Supply Chain overhead costs against budget and report variances with corrective actions
- Plan and manage daily workload for the team
- Maintain daily documentation control and ensure strong governance practices
- Ensure weekly and monthly stock count compliance
- Monitor handling and storage of raw materials and stock
- Apply effective waste management, housekeeping, and 5S principles
- Conduct risk assessments and issue Permit to Work documentation
- Perform HR and administrative duties
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support operational requirements
- Support team objectives and VPO principles
- Perform daily stock reconciliations and weekly PRP compliance checks
- Ensure all documentation is signed off, filed, and securely stored according to Inventory Control Policy
- Conduct random security checks using site camera systems
- Perform three-point independent verification on all inbound and outbound shipments
Profile and Requirements
- National Diploma in Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field
- Two to three years’ experience in a stock control or inventory environment
- Strong knowledge of stock control processes and inventory governance
- Proficiency in MS Office and SAP
- Valid Forklift Truck license
- High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal communication and interpersonal abilities
- Strong organisational, planning, and teamwork skills
- Ability to perform under pressure in a cross-functional environment
- Strong customer ethics and service orientation
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload
