Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Cashier for their Greenhills Mall (Empangeni – New Store). The Cashier will support customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a seamless and world-class shopping experience. All transactions must be recorded accurately on the Dis-Chem operating system, following company policies and procedures, with zero tolerance for errors or fraud.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Strong numerical skills
• Proficient in English
• Basic customer service skills
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

• Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
• Build professional relationships with customers
• Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
• Maintain customer turnover hourly rate
• Stay informed on current sales and promotions
• Ensure safety of colleagues and customers
• Apply Dis-Chem 5-star communication principles
• Manage cash flow and ensure all transactions are accurate
• Authorize line voids and price changes with supervisor approval
• Handle merchandise exchanges and authorized returns
• Process all forms of payments, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and loyalty cards
• Ensure cash is secured in drop safes according to SOPs
• Keep personal codes and passwords secure and updated regularly
• Scan and process all outgoing stock/items/scripts
• Maintain confidentiality of daily takings
• Monitor and report suspicious behavior
• Respond to customer queries regarding merchandise
• Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures

• Experience processing sales, refunds, and payments

• Strong English communication skills (written and oral)

• Trustworthiness and honesty
• Effective time management

Advantageous:

• Fluency in a third language
