Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Cashier to support excellent customer service at the point of sale and ensure a seamless shopping experience. The Cashier will accurately record transactions using the Dis-Chem operating system while adhering to company policies and eliminating fraud risk.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in cashier/till operations
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Strong numerical skills
• Proficient in English
• Basic customer service skills
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service in line with Dis-Chem policies
• Build professional relationships with customers
• Report complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
• Maintain the customer turnover hourly rate
• Stay informed on current sales and promotions
• Ensure the safety of colleagues and customers
• Apply Dis-Chem 5-star communication principles
• Manage cash flow and ensure all transactions are accurate
• Authorize line voids and price changes with supervisor approval
• Handle merchandise exchanges and authorised returns
• Process all forms of payments, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and loyalty cards
• Secure cash in drop safes following SOPs
• Maintain the confidentiality of daily takings
• Monitor and report suspicious behaviour
• Address customer queries regarding merchandise
• Follow Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures

• Effective time management

Advantageous:

• Fluency in a third language
