Role Purpose
PepsiCo Vacancies is seeking a Junior Legal Counsel to support the Senior Legal Counsel in delivering legal service projects and initiatives that strengthen governance, compliance, and risk management across Sub-Saharan Africa. The role focuses on legal research, project management, policy development, and technology enablement to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of legal services.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Support & Governance
- Support the Senior Legal Counsel in the delivery of global and regional legal service projects, including project coordination and tracking of timelines and deliverables.
- Monitor new legislation, regulations, and court judgments impacting the business, analyze implications, and draft practical recommendations.
- Support compliance with corporate governance, regulatory, and risk management frameworks across assigned territories.
Employment & Policy Advisory
- Support the People function with internal policy reviews, human rights initiatives, and enhancement of high-volume HR legal templates.
- Research labor law precedents and workforce trends to improve risk visibility and mitigate financial and reputational exposure.
Risk Management & Reporting
- Monitor and track legal workstreams under the Enterprise Risk Management program, including horizon scanning for emerging risks.
- Prepare reports and insights to support mitigation strategies and informed decision-making.
- Support reconciliation and tracking of product recalls or withdrawals, advising on crisis management and regulatory notification requirements.
Process Improvement & Technology Enablement
- Contribute to the design and simplification of legal processes in collaboration with the wider legal team.
- Support the delivery and adoption of legal technology, including process automation and digital tools.
- Identify training and development programs aligned with team capability needs and legal function objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Professional Status
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification
- Admission as an attorney or admission in progress
Experience
- 1–3 years’ post-qualification experience in corporate, commercial, compliance, or labor law
- Exposure to project management, legal technology, or multinational business environments is advantageous
