Job Description

The Solutions Architect is responsible for designing and governing technology architectures that support the needs of a defined portfolio within the broader Enterprise Architecture. Working closely with the Enterprise Architect, this role ensures cohesive and integrated technology planning, solution design, and delivery. The Solutions Architect partners with Portfolio Managers and Functional Heads across the project lifecycle to align architecture and design decisions with business objectives and to deliver sustainable business value.

Key Performance Areas

• Engage with key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to ensure architecture, design, and solution delivery meet business requirements and drive value
• Implement approved architectural principles, standards, and methodologies within the assigned portfolio
• Oversee and govern all systems and solution design activities within the portfolio
• Build and maintain strong relationships across technology teams to ensure integration, consistency, and enterprise-wide system coherence
• Develop and maintain a portfolio-level business capability map aligned to the enterprise capability framework
• Support the Enterprise Architect in defining reference system architectures that deliver required business capabilities at optimal cost and flexibility
• Collaborate with Functional Heads across portfolios to roadmap and guide the implementation of reference architectures
• Perform ad hoc duties as required to support strategic technology objectives

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Commerce, or a related discipline
• Recognised technology architecture certification, such as TOGAF
• At least 10 years’ experience in technology design and implementation
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Solutions Architect role
• At least 2 years’ experience in Enterprise Architecture within a Retail environment
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle methodologies and governance
• Proven capability in digital strategy development, IT operations, and technology governance
• Solid knowledge of data technologies, including data governance tools, data platforms, and enterprise architecture principles
