About the Program
Truworths is seeking a Senior Credit Risk Analyst to join our Risk and Analytics team at Head Office in Cape Town. This role leverages extensive data and insights to develop and implement customer strategies that drive profitability while managing risk. You will provide analysis, reports, and technical support to enhance company performance through data-driven credit risk strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the team in achieving a balanced credit portfolio through accurate forecasting.
- Develop and implement champion/challenger customer strategies aligned with Board expectations.
- Monitor portfolio performance and proactively recommend adjustments to meet KPIs.
- Investigate data integrity issues, test assumptions, and validate analytical results.
- Analyze the impact of strategy changes on account management and operational areas.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders via reports and presentations.
- Forecast and monitor the effectiveness of implemented strategies using statistical techniques.
- Project manage the implementation of strategy changes in live systems.
- Apply coding skills relevant to retail credit environments.
- Demonstrate credit expertise, including IFRS9 compliance, credit strategy rules, and risk registers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant post-graduate degree in mathematics, statistics, or related fields preferred.
- Business Science Degree, B.Com, or equivalent.
- 8+ years of experience in consumer credit within a Credit Risk analytics environment.
- Proven ability to implement solutions based on analytical findings.
Competencies
- Deep understanding of the credit life cycle.
- Experience with revolving store cards or credit cards advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in structured and unstructured environments.
- Predictive analytics experience with a strong numeracy background is highly valued.
- Ability to monitor models and report to the Board.
- Mentorship and team development capabilities, including training support.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Experience with SAS (Base, Enterprise Guide, or SAS Viya) is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of SAS SQL or SAS Python is beneficial.
