Job Description
An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified, experienced, and energetic Supervisor to join the Fresh Fish Operations Department at Sea Harvest. The Supervisor will ensure the smooth and efficient running of the production plant, focusing on maximizing plant performance while meeting production targets safely, on time, and in line with customer expectations and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Staff Management:
- Guide, direct, and oversee teams to achieve company objectives.
- Monitor and manage absenteeism, conduct counselling, and coordinate clinic referrals.
- Ensure staff competencies and plan skills development through WPTs.
- Take disciplinary action when necessary, complete incident reports, and follow up on inquiries.
- Counsel and support employees with performance issues.
Production Management:
- Monitor yield, labour efficiency, and line performance.
- Ensure products are produced according to specifications and quality standards.
- Manage production downtime and maintain FIFO and traceability procedures.
Workplace Safety and Housekeeping:
- Oversee health and safety compliance among employees.
- Maintain hygiene and housekeeping standards.
- Arrange corrective training for product non-conformance.
- Monitor staff workplace hygiene and adherence to production specifications.
Operational Efficiency:
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain systems and practices for a safe, effective, and innovative work culture.
- Drive production improvement processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
- Relevant NQF Level 6 certificate of competency preferred.
- 5–10 years of relevant production experience.
- Knowledge of quality systems, health and safety procedures, and processing/production processes.
