FINANCIAL MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE:
To lead and manage the Finance and Payroll function of SA Fishing, ensuring the delivery of accurate, consolidated financial information and statutory reporting. This role is responsible for preparing IFRS-compliant financial statements, reporting packs, and financial insights that support strategic decision-making while maintaining full regulatory and compliance standards.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee the preparation of IFRS-compliant, accurate, and timely financial reports, including annual financial statements and quarterly reporting packs.
- Manage the monthly trial balance process.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Oversee the preparation and review of balance sheets for forecasting and budgeting purposes.
- Ensure accurate quarterly and annual SARB reporting.
Tax Management & Compliance
- Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely tax reporting and administration.
- Oversee provisional tax calculations for SA Fishing and Group entities.
- Review year-end tax calculations and tax returns.
- Maintain full oversight of tax compliance, including VAT, PAYE, and Income Tax for SA Fishing and Group entities.
Debtors, Creditors & Cash Management
- Oversee debtor management to ensure effective credit control and timely collections.
- Ensure accurate and efficient management of creditor payments.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational requirements.
Fixed Assets & Financial Projects
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the Fixed Asset Register and Tax Asset Register.
- Oversee finance-related projects to support operational and strategic objectives.
Payroll Management
- Ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing.
- Oversee employee payments and all payroll-related third-party payments, including medical aids, pension funds, SARS, unions, and other statutory obligations.
- Supervise the preparation of the annual salary budget.
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide strong leadership to the finance team.
- Attract, develop, and retain high-performing talent.
- Manage performance to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- BCom CA(SA).
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Experience within an FMCG environment will be advantageous.
- Strong computer literacy and numerical proficiency.
- Deadline-driven with the ability to perform under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of business processes and financial practices.
