An exciting opportunity has become available for a Sport Specific Specialist at Tekkie Town. This role reports directly to the Store Manager and is ideal for a well-spoken, energetic, and sport-focused individual with a strong passion for customer service and leading sport brands. The purpose of this position is to contribute to store profitability by delivering an exceptional customer shopping experience through the sale of specialised sport-specific footwear, accessories, and apparel.
The Sport Specific Specialist will be responsible for merchandising, maintaining high housekeeping standards, and ensuring effective stock replenishment of sport-specific products. This role requires a customer-first mindset and a commitment to delivering a world-class retail experience.
Qualifications
• Grade 12
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
• 1–2 years’ experience within a major sports retail chain
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and another relevant South African language
• Strong interpersonal and selling skills
• High attention to detail
• Energetic, performance-driven attitude
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Outstanding customer service skills with strong communication abilities
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced retail environment
• Passion for retail and sport
• Willingness to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
• Achieve weekly and monthly sales targets
• Communicate detailed product knowledge confidently to customers
• Stay informed about in-store promotions and campaigns
• Report slow-moving and fast-moving products to management
• Ensure product availability on the sales floor
• Communicate customer requests for non-stocked items to Store Management
• Assess customer needs, provide recommendations, and deliver suitable solutions
• Ensure visual merchandising aligns with promotions and product availability
• Maintain strict stock control and security standards on the sales floor
• Uphold high standards of housekeeping and quality across all areas
• Demonstrate initiative and ensure tasks are completed to the highest standard
• Consistently apply Tekkie Town values, policies, and procedures in all duties
