Job Description
Tekkie Town is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Sport Specific Specialist to join the retail team and contribute to delivering an exceptional customer shopping experience. This role focuses on driving sales by providing expert advice on sport-specific footwear, apparel, and accessories while ensuring excellent merchandising, stock availability, and store presentation standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with store leadership to support overall store performance through strong product knowledge, outstanding customer engagement, and effective merchandising practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve weekly and monthly sales targets through effective product recommendations and customer engagement
- Demonstrate strong product knowledge and communicate the benefits of sport-specific footwear, apparel, and accessories to customers
- Stay informed about current store promotions, campaigns, and product launches
- Report fast-selling and slow-moving items to store management to support stock planning
- Ensure sport-specific products are always available and well presented on the sales floor
- Inform store management about customer requests for products not currently available in store
- Assess customer needs and provide tailored product recommendations
- Ensure visual merchandising displays align with promotional campaigns and product availability
- Maintain stock control and ensure product security on the sales floor
- Uphold high standards of housekeeping and product presentation in the store
- Take initiative in maintaining store standards and ensuring a positive customer shopping environment
- Consistently follow Tekkie Town values, policies, and operational procedures in daily activities
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel
- 1–2 years’ experience within a major sports retail environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and another relevant South African official language
- Strong interpersonal and sales skills with a customer-focused approach
- High level of attention to detail and strong organisational abilities
- Energetic, performance-driven, and passionate about sports retail
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to engage and communicate confidently with customers
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced retail environment
- Willingness to work retail trading hours and maintain flexible availability
