Introduction

Clicks Group Careers is seeking a results-driven and experienced Store Manager to lead store operations and deliver service excellence. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient store performance by guiding the operations team to achieve sales, profit, and compliance targets, ultimately strengthening the brand’s competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and maximise store financial performance by monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets and implementing corrective actions where required
  • Manage and control all operational activities, including expenses, stock management, shrinkage, housekeeping, and administration
  • Oversee the execution of visual merchandising to ensure presentation and promotional standards align with brand expectations
  • Recruit, lead, and develop a competent and motivated team to meet current and future business needs
  • Schedule staff in accordance with labour policies to ensure optimal departmental coverage
  • Ensure all administrative processes, including time, attendance, and employee records, are accurately completed and submitted
  • Implement customer service initiatives that enhance the shopping experience, drive loyalty, and increase club card participation
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including centre managers, suppliers, and distribution centres
  • Monitor customer trends, demographics, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities
  • Promote collaboration between store operations, pharmacy, and clinic teams
  • Foster a high-performance culture that drives employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and shareholder value
  • Uphold and promote the company’s vision and values to remain the customer’s first choice health and beauty retailer

Knowledge Requirements

  • Strong understanding and application of financial management principles
  • Retail/FMCG background with knowledge of merchandising and promotional strategies
  • Knowledge of stock control, cost management, risk, and compliance procedures
  • Customer service excellence principles
  • Understanding of labour legislation and industrial relations practices
  • Knowledge of competency-based interviewing

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a store management role within a retail or FMCG environment with an annual turnover of at least R50 million
  • Extensive people management experience leading a large and diverse workforce
  • Proven financial management experience, including budgets, profit and loss statements, and financial ratio analysis
