PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Planner (C4) will manage the business’s working capital by accurately planning sales and inflows, and executing these plans through effective stock management to optimise availability, profitability, and cash flow.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and Management of Working Capital
- Plan and control working capital to support sales and profitability targets
- Identify specific growth opportunities across products and categories
- Develop realistic plans for markdowns, shrinkage, and mark-ups
- Conduct post-season and historical performance reviews, evaluating price matrices and product mix ratios
- Re-forecast plans based on performance trends and trading conditions
- Identify and manage late and early deliveries to minimise trading risk
- Ensure Open-to-Buy is spent in line with approved targets
- Manage stock allocations and distribution to optimise availability
Price Adjustments & Markdowns
- Propose actions for slow-moving and underperforming products
- Coordinate in-season and end-of-season markdown strategies
Store Performance Review and Analysis
- Continuously review store performance and provide actionable insights
- Provide feedback to Location Planning to improve assortment effectiveness
- Apply store profiles and grading to optimise product distribution
- Conduct departmental performance reviews with detailed monthly analysis
- Deliver weekly Business Unit performance reporting and insights
Store Visits and Competitor Analysis
- Conduct competitor visits to enhance product knowledge and benchmark offerings
- Identify and address in-store issues such as sizing and assortment gaps
Country Support
- Respond to STP inbox queries and support country teams with planning insights
- Provide structured feedback and action plans following country visits
Ad Hoc Projects
- Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Retail Planning
- Experience with planning tools, such as EP, will be advantageous
- Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Working knowledge of replenishment processes
- Intermediate computer literacy
- Willingness to travel to African countries on an occasional basis
- South African citizenship
