Service Area Assistant Fruit & Veg – Pick n Pay Careers

Job Purpose

• Support the Fruit & Veg department by ensuring products are safely handled, merchandised correctly, and presented to meet quality and service standards.
• Assist customers professionally while maintaining operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Stack and store products in a safe, clean, and organised manner
• Merchandise products according to laid-down standards
• Price random weight/loose selling items accurately
• Check labels to ensure correct pricing
• Inspect product quality, rotate stock, and remove expired items
• Minimise wastage, shrinkage, and damage
• Monitor temperatures and maintain the cold chain where applicable
• Adhere to and enforce security procedures
• Operate and clean equipment according to standard operating procedures
• Approach and advise customers on products, listen to their requests, provide required products or services, and handle customers courteously
• Process all customer orders following correct procedures and service standards
• Promote products and support sales initiatives
