Dischem Vacancies is building a Cashier talent pool to identify and pre-screen suitable candidates for future opportunities within Ballito stores. This initiative ensures a ready group of skilled individuals who can deliver excellent customer service and maintain accurate and secure till operations.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience
  • Computer literate (MS Office)
  • Sound numerical skills
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Willing and able to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Dischem customer service policies and procedures
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers
  • Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
  • Meet required customer turnover hourly rates
  • Stay informed about current sales and promotions
  • Ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues
  • Apply Dischem 5-star communication principles at all times
  • Manage and control cash flow responsibly
  • Ensure all line voids and price changes are authorised and signed off by a supervisor
  • Process exchanges and authorised returns in line with company procedures
  • Accurately transact all purchases and process payments including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
  • Process loyalty cards and partner programmes
  • Secure cash in the drop safe according to standard operating procedures
  • Protect personal login codes and passwords, ensuring confidentiality and regular updates
  • Ensure all outgoing items and prescriptions are scanned and paid for
  • Keep all cash secure within the till and handle daily takings confidentially
  • Identify and report suspicious behaviour to management
  • Assist customers with queries regarding merchandise
  • Comply with all security policies and procedures

  • Strong knowledge of operating cash registers and managing cash drawers
  • Understanding of processing sales, refunds, and various payment methods
  • Strong verbal and written English skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Professional appearance and conduct

  • Accountability and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyse basic reports
  • Trustworthy and honest
  • Effective time management

Advantageous:

  • Ability to speak a third additional language
