Role Overview
The Retail Branch Manager is accountable for driving customer growth and increasing revenue within Sanlam Retail Mass by developing and executing an effective branch strategy. This role leads the branch team to achieve sales targets, ensures operational excellence, and builds a strong service culture that delivers an exceptional client experience.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Sales Growth
- Develop and implement the retail branch strategy and business plan
- Grow the customer base and increase branch revenue
- Align and standardise the goals and activities of Sales Consultants
- Drive consistent sales delivery and achievement of branch targets
- Foster a high-performance and service-focused culture
Client Experience and Service Excellence
- Lead a client-centric service environment within and outside the branch
- Strengthen customer engagement and retention initiatives
- Ensure an optimal and seamless client experience
Operational and Risk Management
- Oversee the daily management and maintenance of the branch
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, quality standards, and internal policies
- Manage risk and uphold governance requirements
People Management and Development
- Manage all operational people practices in partnership with HR
- Oversee talent management, performance reviews, and employee development
- Handle grievance resolution, leave management, and capacity planning
- Motivate, coach, and lead a results-driven team
Stakeholder Engagement
- Identify and engage key internal and external stakeholders, including Area Managers, Business Owners, activation sites, and community forums
- Develop and execute engagement strategies to strengthen relationships and enhance brand presence
Planning and Reporting
- Conduct monthly sales and service planning
- Prepare and submit accurate branch performance reports
- Utilise data and analytics to inform strategic decisions
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- RE1 and RE5 qualifications
- 120 Wealth Management credits or an FSCA-recognised tertiary qualification
- Annual Class of Business accreditation
- Compliance with CPD requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ recent industry experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Service management experience
- Insurance sales experience
- Credit and lending experience
