Role Purpose

The Retail Branch Manager is responsible for driving growth in customer base and revenue for Sanlam Retail Mass by developing and executing an effective branch strategy. This role leads Sales Consultants, ensures operational excellence, and fosters a strong service culture that delivers an outstanding client experience.

The Retail Branch Manager oversees the daily management of the branch, ensures compliance and risk control, and aligns business objectives with overall strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Branch Strategy and Sales Performance

  • Develop and implement the retail branch strategy and business plan
  • Drive sales delivery and revenue growth in line with targets
  • Guide, integrate, and standardise Sales Consultant activities to align with strategic objectives
  • Establish and maintain a high-performance, service-driven culture
  • Monitor branch performance and implement corrective actions where required

Client Experience and Service Excellence

  • Lead a service ecosystem that enhances the client journey within and outside the branch
  • Ensure exceptional customer engagement and retention
  • Promote a client-centric culture across all branch operations

Operational and Compliance Management

  • Oversee day-to-day branch operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, policies, and quality standards
  • Manage risk and ensure adherence to internal governance requirements

People Management

  • Manage all operational people practices for direct reports in collaboration with HR
  • Oversee talent management, performance reviews, employee development, and capacity planning
  • Address grievances and manage leave allocation
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify and build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including Area Managers, Business Owners, activation sites, and community forums
  • Implement effective engagement strategies to strengthen partnerships and brand presence

Planning and Reporting

  • Conduct monthly planning of sales and service activities
  • Compile and submit accurate performance reports
  • Use data and analytics to support informed decision-making

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • RE1 and RE5 qualifications
  • 120 Wealth Management credits or an FSCA-recognised tertiary qualification
  • Annual Class of Business accreditation
  • Compliance with CPD requirements
  • Minimum 5 years’ recent industry experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Service management experience
  • Insurance sales experience
  • Credit and lending experience
