Engineering Lead Reliability – Sasol Careers
Purpose of the Role
The Engineering Lead Reliability applies Asset Management principles to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective use of assets throughout their lifecycle. This role encompasses maintenance and production management while leading and developing reliability strategies to enhance operational performance and asset sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply Risk Based Inspection (RBI) principles on pressure vessels and piping to mitigate operational risks
- Manage deviations (DM) and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), including quality reporting and monitoring the health of reliability management systems
- Conduct integrity studies to identify underperforming assets and recommend corrective actions
- Provide supply reliability metrics and inputs for Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) studies, including MTBF analysis
- Perform inherent risk analysis on equipment using RBI data and facilitated sessions
- Facilitate Operate Within Agreed Parameters (OWAP) discussions across engineering disciplines to prevent equipment failures
- Promote the adoption of efficient reliability practices within Operations
- Collaborate with Operations to prioritize activities and projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives
- Maintain effective reliability governance processes within the Management of Reliability (MOR) value chain
- Serve as custodian of reliability business processes, procedures, work instructions, and best practices
- Ensure operational personnel understand and apply reliability engineering practices through training, facilitation, and coaching
- Track the health of reliability governance processes and influence their proper implementation
- Establish, monitor, and report on reliability metrics to drive continuous improvement and sustainable operations
- Report critical findings and next steps from incident investigations impacting operational performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Experience Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant experience in reliability, maintenance, or asset management within an industrial or production environment
