Plant Operator – Sasol Careers

Purpose of the Role
The Plant Operator is responsible for operating plant equipment and performing routine operations as assigned by the supervisor, ensuring smooth production and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate plant equipment including filters, kilns, ball mills, vibro mills, jet mills, screens, compressors, generators, waste water treatment systems, mobile equipment, and boilers under the direction of Shift Supervisor or Plant Operator I and II
• Perform assigned material handling, record keeping, and measurement tasks accurately
• Collect and log samples, monitor processes, and correct minor operational irregularities
• Execute instructions for special runs requiring alternate processing conditions
• Operate equipment to ensure product quality and process efficiency

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience Requirements

• At least 1 year of relevant experience in a chemical manufacturing or industrial environment

Physical and Professional Requirements

• Proficiency in English at a native level
• Ability to ascend and descend stairs safely
• Capable of wearing a respirator for safety compliance
• Able to lift, push, or pull up to 52 lbs safely
