Process Operator Gr 2 – Sasol Careers

Purpose of the Role
The Process Operator Gr 2 is responsible for setting up and operating production machinery to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable production. The role includes routine operational duties, housekeeping, and first-line maintenance support where required, while adhering to strict safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate production equipment to support efficient plant operations
• Perform routine cleaning of machines, work areas, floors, benches, and PPE according to schedules
• Pack and store materials in designated areas in line with operational plans
• Safely handle, pack, store, load, and offload raw materials, hazardous chemicals, and gas cylinders
• Maintain general neatness and order within the area of responsibility
• Perform planned painting and general maintenance tasks
• Complete Sasol Nitro employee induction requirements, including emergency preparedness
• Carry out ad hoc operational tasks as assigned by senior personnel
• Work overtime when operationally required
• Use hand tools and equipment safely and correctly
• Handle process chemicals and explosives safely and in accordance with procedures
• Offload tankers and bulk materials where applicable
• Prepare, handle, and determine properties of gassing solutions
• Clean and decontaminate bulk trucks and related equipment
• Assist maintenance teams during breakdowns and on-site service activities
• Support health, safety, and environmental management systems
• Correctly identify and use required personal protective equipment
• Participate in emergency preparedness drills and safety observations
• Conduct routine inspections of safety equipment and ensure maintenance where required
• Adhere to all safety rules, permits, and work standards, including working at heights where applicable
• Participate in OUPA system and behaviour-based safety observations
• Perform blasting-related tasks where applicable

Minimum Qualifications

• National Senior Certificate or N3

Experience Requirements

• 1 to 2+ years of relevant production or process operating experience

Licensing Requirement

• Valid Driver’s License
