Junior Accountant Fixed Assets (Synfuels & Mining) X2 – Sasol Careers

Purpose of the Role
The Junior Accountant Fixed Assets supports the delivery of accurate and compliant fixed asset accounting services at an entry level. The role is responsible for the day-to-day execution of fixed asset accounting activities, maintaining accurate records and reports, and supporting sound business decisions in line with financial and governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Capture, classify, and depreciate asset-related costs accurately and timeously in accordance with company policies
• Perform financial reviews of asset capitalisations, retirements, transfers, and fixed asset verifications via ServiceNow
• Execute monthly depreciation runs, extract reports, and perform fixed asset reconciliations
• Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet and profit and loss reconciliations, and analytical reviews
• Perform internal control activities and monthly and quarterly SOX testing
• Support Operations with fixed asset-related ServiceNow requests
• Process fixed asset master data changes in line with governance standards
• Reconcile intercompany fixed asset transactions and ensure agreement with signed-off D2 forms
• Participate in periodic fixed asset verification processes

Qualifications and Experience

• National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in fixed asset accounting, or
• National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in a finance-related field
• Experience in projects and asset accounting environments, preferably within an operational setting
