About the Program
Truworths is seeking a highly skilled Tax Accountant to join our team and contribute to tax compliance, strategy, and risk management across multiple jurisdictions. This role is suited to a technically strong tax professional with expertise in Direct, Indirect, or International tax, who can combine technical execution with strategic insight. You will play a key role in delivering end-to-end tax solutions that support both compliance and advisory excellence while contributing to the organization’s evolving tax strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of complex corporate tax and VAT returns across multiple jurisdictions.
- Prepare deferred tax calculations and IFRS-aligned tax disclosures for financial reporting.
- Provide advisory support on cross-border tax matters, including transactions, transfer pricing, and international developments.
- Strengthen and maintain tax controls aligned with group governance objectives.
- Support internal tax audits, engagements with revenue authorities, and litigation processes.
- Contribute to board-level reporting, including risk management and statutory compliance reviews.
- Conduct research on tax matters impacting the Group and present findings for discussion.
- Contribute to a technical centre of excellence by leading research on key tax areas or jurisdictions.
- Deliver technical training to internal stakeholders and finance teams.
- Lead cross-border tax consultations and engagements with group entities.
- Develop and refine tax policies, procedures, and internal guidance to enhance compliance maturity.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- BCom degree with postgraduate specialization in Taxation or Accounting.
Experience
- 5–8 years of relevant tax experience.
- Multi-jurisdictional or multi-disciplinary experience is advantageous.
- Retail industry experience beneficial.
Competencies
Skills
- Strong understanding of tax compliance, reporting processes, and relevant legislation.
- Solid knowledge of tax accounting, including deferred tax calculations and analysis of temporary differences.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
