Role Purpose
The Branch Consultant/ Financial Advisor is responsible for promoting Sanlam Retail Mass products and increasing market share within a branch environment. The role focuses on delivering professional financial advice, enhancing client service, identifying optimisation opportunities, and cross-selling value-added products.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Business Development
- Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of Sanlam Retail Mass product offerings
- Assess clients’ financial needs, goals, and affordability to recommend suitable solutions
- Keep clients informed of new products and updates, and adjust portfolios where required
- Validate client information in accordance with product and regulatory requirements
- Submit new business through the appropriate channels
- Conduct due diligence to identify and report potential risks
- Effectively manage scheduled appointments while assisting walk-in clients
- Identify opportunities for portfolio optimisation and cross-selling
Client Service and Retention
- Service and manage client profiles to ensure long-term retention
- Send payment reminders and conduct follow-ups to maintain strong client relationships
- Monitor and manage Not Taken Up (NTU) cases and implement corrective measures
- Maintain payment persistency to support both client and branch performance
- Identify client risk profiles and provide proactive support
- Assist clients with alternative payment arrangements and ensure accurate system updates
- Guide clients through policy cancellations while offering suitable alternatives
- Resolve branch-level queries or escalate in line with established processes
- Provide continuous feedback to clients regarding the status of queries
Quality, Compliance and Development
- Adhere to compliance, regulatory, and quality standards
- Maintain up-to-date registration, product knowledge, and CPD requirements
- Identify and report potential fraudulent activities
- Accurately record and store advice documentation
- Capture and log all activities in line with standard operating procedures
- Provide relevant data to support reporting and informed decision-making
Planning and Reporting
- Capture daily activities using approved technology platforms
- Compile weekly and monthly reports within required timelines
- Support the Retail Branch Manager with ad-hoc tasks as required
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Minimum 1 year experience in sales or marketing
- Experience within insurance branch environments advantageous
- RE5 qualification advantageous
- FAIS compliant (Wealth Management) as per DOFA requirements
- Class of Business training to be completed within 12 months of employment
